Government corruption affects not only the country as a whole, but the lives of individuals as well. In the novels, The Little Chinese Seamstress, by Dai Sijie and True History of the Kelly Gang, by Peter C atomic number 18y, the protagonists, Ned and the teller, are go about with obstacles that challenge their sureties towards their friends. The narrator is sent, with his best friend, Luo, to be re-educated during the cultural Revolution in China in the 1970s; when face up with difficult and dangerous situations, the sincerity of their knowledge is put to the test. Ned Kelly discovers who rattling appreciates him when he is on the run from the law; the ones who remain loyal to him throughout are the ones who genuinely love him. When countries are faced with corrupt governments, peoples relationships do not ricochet the chaos and tumult of their governments.

In Dai Sijies novel, The Little Chinese Seamstress, monoamine oxidase Zedong has taken over China and the boys have had to hearten their lives, the narrator and Luo are able to keep their friendship strong. When the devil boys are sent to be re-educated, they make sacrifices to keep their friendship strong. At the end of the song, Luo protects his friend from the serious consequences that Mao has imposed for having contact with the Western World, by saying that the song was entitled Mozart is thinking of Chairman Mao (Sijie 5).
