Introduction
The purpose of this project was to determine tetrad metals out of a possible five. The four metals that were supplied were labelled G, W, E and N. A list of Silver, Tin, Nickel, Aluminium and surface was also supplied. let on of these five metals, we were to determine which ones were supplied.
To determine what they were, a series of experiments were conducted. The experiments were distinct by addressing the physical and chemical properties of the metals. T up to(p) 1 shows the look and findings of the specialisedations of each metal, including melting point, boiling point, appearance, density, magnetism, conductivity and reactivity.
With these results, physical station experiments were conducted. Chemical tests were also conducted including 1M Hydrochloric acid, 6M Hydrochloric acid, Sulphuric acid and Nitric acid.
non all the acidic tests were done to specify the metals, save to sign up down the choices or to support what our previous predictions were. For example, the Nitric dot test was used to determine which metal Tin was, but the Sodium Hydroxide test was used for the results to support that.
A few of the experiments conducted showed inconclusive results, due to human error or a lack of materials. For example, the conductivity experiment was inconclusive because we did non have enough of each metal to be able to conduct electricity to them, and for the density test, the lengths were not measured properly.
